Day three report

Centuries from Queensland batsmen, Wade Townsend and Joe Burns, and some late hitting from Ben Cutting, have helped the Bulls to first innings points on day three of the Bupa Sheffield Shield match at Adelaide Oval.

Resuming on 3/135, Townsend and Burns played positively throughout the first session, with Burns bringing up his 100 in the 73rd over from 148 balls.

Just before lunch, Daniel Christian helped swing the momentum back South Australia’s way after a dominant session for Queensland.

He had Burns well stumped by Ludeman for 116, and Hartley gone for 0 two overs later LBW, and at lunch the Bulls were 5/245.

Peter George claimed his second scalp, with Hopes caught at cover by Phil Hughes for 32, and when Nathan Lyon had Hauritz caught at short leg, Queensland were 7/298 and first innings points were up for grabs.

Lyon then trapped Townsend LBW for 129, and the Redbacks had a lead of 65 with two wickets to get.
Ben Cutting again made life difficult for the Redbacks bowlers, launching a number of lofty hits over the fence.

The Bulls needed 30 runs after the tea break to gain the two points, and Cutting almost singlehandedly managed it, before Worrall had him caught at long on with the scores even.

A boundary to Feldman saw the Bulls take first innings points and they declared immediately.

Phil Hughes was again dismissed early, caught at first slip off Hopes for eight, before Klinger and Miller steadied.

Miller was dismissed late in the day for 33, LBW to Hauritz and just before stumps, Michael Klinger was caught at short leg for 40, also off the bowling of Hauritz.

Travis Head negotiated the last over and the Redbacks finished 3/90.
